The problem is that we are stuck on the principles of the internal combustion engine, which relies upon a series of timed explosions to turn a crank shaft and transfer that energy to the wheels.  Some young genius needs to explore other methods of generating forward motion.

weaning what weaning that is a myth there is plenty of oil no matter what you go to it will cost you out of the bazoo look at the price of corn because of ethanol you think the government is not going to tax that   thousands of jobs have been lost because of that myth look at detroit gas guzzlers should we go back to horse and carriage no fuel at all there why should america suffer so wallstreet can line their pockets taxes are a big part but wallstreet is the real problem when big oil merged prices soared until then and check it out we were not dependent as much on foreign oil and check out every day a new reason to raise oil its all about wallstreet

asda you are right!  I was just thinking back when I was a young teen and I would put 5 bucks of gas in my car and drive in circles all weekend long, because that is what we did when I was a kid. lol

I know what you mean! We have met the enemy and they are us! We have to wean our selves the first thing and that’s a hard row to hoe! Then we take on the oil giants and tell the towel heads to eat sand and go ride their camels.

BamaBob you don’t even have to go back 40 years to see a huge jump.  In 1996 gas was below a dollar a gallon now a little more than 12 years later we are talking about $4.00 a gallon something is really wrong.

40 years ago we were driving muscle cars and filling up the huge tank for less than 10 bucks.  They would even clean your windshield and give you some green stamps for choosing them.  The Middle East was just a place on the map we read about in a geography class until American oil companies moved into the area, built refineries and taught those people how to get oil from beneath the sand.  Those days are gone forever!

I’m all for finding alternative fuel sources and breaking the dependence we have on turbulent countries that are now so wealthy it is practically obscene.  But, how do we get there from here…...

I DONT THINK IT S THE OIL COMP. I WORK IN THE OIL AND GAS IND, I DO KNOW THAT EVERYTIME THESE PRODUCTS TURN A CORNER,DOWN THE PIPE LINE,RFIINE,PACKAGE,AND GET TO THE STORE SHELF.ECT. THE GOVERMENT CHIPS A LITTLE OF IT OWN THROUGHOUT THE PROCESS, THAT IS WHERE MOST OF THE REVENUE GOES TO.WE EVEN HAVE TO PAY THE GOVERMENT FOR ATMOSPHERIC RELEASE. I POINT MY FINGER AT THE GOVERMENT. EVERY TIME YOU TURN AROUND WE ARE GETTING A NEW TAX FOR SOMETHING OR INSTALLING METERS FOR THEM TO KNOW WHERE TO TO TAKE FROM NEXT.

YEP! YEP! When the price goes down they try to wait until all of the refined oil in storage is gone before posting the reduced price. When the price goes up they post the new price immediately, including the oil refined at a lower price. They probably call that “ASSET LEVERAGING”,but to you and me it means they’re saying to the other oil producers"Let’s stick it to them while we can before their politicians have no where else to hide and have to take a stand”.

its not just the oil companies. everyone wants to beat up on the oil companies, but a major reason that oil is so high is because our dollar is basically useless in the world economy. a month or two ago when bush asked for OPEC and the middle east to start processing more oil they said HELL NO and i dont blame them. its not their fault that our dollar doenst buy as much oil as it used to, its not their problem that we elected a retard for president for two terms and he has run our economy into the ground. yes, the oil companies are at fault to, but its not all their fault. i wonder what everyone would think if the oil companies said to hell with this and quit refining oil all together. than what would we do?

the big oil companies must be broken up to make them compete   plain and simple
