State Lawmaker Indicted

no public action against Republican state Sen. Charles Bishop for
hitting Democratic Sen. Lowell Barron on the final day of the last
legislative session.
The committee met Thursday in private session for about 50
minutes and then announced a complaint that Barron filed against
Bishop had been closed. If the committee had decided any punishment
were necessary, it would have had to refer the matter to the entire
Senate.
Bishop's attorney, Jim Ward, said the committee's decision will
allow Bishop to continue his work in the state Legislature.

Why is there no punishment? I can understand if the victim did not wish to pursue charges, but he still acted in a manner that was disgraceful to his position, the Senate (State), and the Citizens of the State of Alabama. It is conduct that is unbecoming of a public servant. Does his $40,000 a year (part time job) make him immune to Ethics Violations, or is there something more politically motivated here? I’m appauled!
