Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick has been suspended indefinitely without pay by the NFL. The punishment was handed down hours after he acknowledged in court papers that he bankrolled gambling on dogfighting and helped kill some dogs not worthy of the pit.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell says he'll review the status of the suspension following the conclusion of legal proceedings. Vick insists he placed no bets of his own nor took any winnings. But Goodell says Vick's actions in funding the betting and his association with illegal gambling both violate the terms of his NFL player contract.
Goodell says Vick's admitted conduct was "not only illegal but also cruel and reprehensible." Vick also was exposed to corrupting influences in derogation of one of the most fundamental responsibilities of an NFL player, according to Goodell.
A "summary of facts" signed by Vick was filed along with his written plea agreement on a federal dogfighting conspiracy charge. He will appear before U.S. District Judge Henry Hudson to formally plead guilty Monday and then await sentencing at a later date.

All evil and criminal individuals that are prosecuted and find themselves in a “pinch” suddenly find God.  God has been there the whole time - where were they?  Initially, Mr. Vick professed “innocence”.  When the facts proved otherwise, he suddenly professed “ignorance”.  Please log on to the WKRG site detailing the symptoms and clues which are indicative of the sport of dog fighting.  This news report came out on September 1, 2007 and is still accepting posts and commentary.  It will make your stomach turn.  The name of this report is “Dog Fighting Gets New Attention”.

It is heart breaking to hear that anyone could knowingly and willingly harm an animal. Mr. Vick was handed down justice and I hope that he is not allowed to play football again. He along with every other celebrity should really think before they act. What kind of signal is this sending to our young children? Thankfully, my children do not know of Mr. Vick because we are College fans but, it does not matter who he played for, he comitted a crime and I am glad that he was punished. BTW, I don’t buy his television broadcast about how he has found God. I hope for his sake that he has. Shame on him and shame on the others that were involved.

What money he has left after paying all of his lawyers should be given to support animal cruelty organizations around the United States.  He should never be allowed to play in the NFL again.  He was a role model for our young people and he knowingly took part in an abusive and illegal sport.  If the NFL allows him to play again, what message does this send out to the youth of this country?  Shame on him.  He is an evil and ignorant man and I took great pleasure in throwing my son’s Michael Vick football, poster and jersey in a dumpster!

I hope he ends up in a ditch without a friend in the world.
