Taylor's former lawyer, Richard Sharpstein, says he got the news in a call from Taylor's father. Sharpstein calls Taylor's death "a tremendously sad and unnecessary event." He says Taylor was a "wonderful, humble, talented young man" with "a huge life in front of him."
Taylor was shot in the upper leg early Monday morning. The 24-year-old lost a "significant" amount of blood because the bullet damaged his femoral artery, according to Sharpstein.
Taylor missed Washington's last two games because of a knee injury and was at home recuperating.
Miami-Dade Police were investigating the attack, which came just eight days after an intruder was reported at Taylor's home.
