Later gator. The man who caught a 12-foot, 10-inch, 641-pound alligator on the Mobile-Tensaw Delta (August 19th) is no longer the state record holder. William Simmons from Headland, Alabama caught a 12-foot, 675-pound alligator over the weekend.
Simmons was gator hunting on Lake Eufaula Saturday when he says he spotted the huge reptile near the railroad trestle and the Vandiver Causway around midnight. He shot the gator and tied it to his boat.
Simmons plans to have the front third of the alligator stuffed and placed in his trophy room.
Fourteen gators were harvested on Lake Eufaula. The smallest weighed 57 pounds.
