The Department of Transportation is announcing a new rating system for ease of
use to install and uninstall child safety seats. We are using a simple scoring
system with stars so parents can figure out which are the easy seats to put in
and which are the tough ones.

Every car seat, no matter how many stars they get for ease of use has to meet
government safety standards. All of these seats are safe but some of them are
much easier to install and uninstall in your car than others. That's what we
are trying to rate with our new ease of use program.

Buying a car seat can be so frustrating for parents and caregivers. There's so
much variety in the marketplace and we are providing the ease of use star
rating system as a tool for parents, based on their individual needs to make
the right decision about a car seat.
