OPELIKA, Ala. (AP) - A new auto supplier is up and running ineast Alabama. Dozens of dignitaries joined executives with
Korean-based Daewon America to celebrate yesterday's opening in
Opelika.
The company said 63 workers have been hired and production began
last month. Officials expects the plant to create up to 170 jobs.
Daewon America manufactures suspension bars and coils for Kia
and other automakers, including Hyundai and General Motors.
The facility is located near the Kia Motors assembly plant now
under construction in West Point, Georgia.
The Alabama plant is Daewon's first in North America.
