How is he able to do such a physical job for so long?
Andy Bryant just smiles and says, "Keep moving!"
There was a time when he was known for his fancy moves...
Sonny Hughey, General Manager of Morrison's Springdale, explains, "Andy, when he was carrying a tray would come off that serving line, and would have two trays in his hand, one high above his head, one down low around his waist...he would spin going through the dining room. Kids would laugh...it was a sight to watch!"
Today, there are no more shows...in fact, Mr. Andy retired a few years ago, but still works two days a week.
"The way things are going now," says Mr. Andy, "everything's awful high, so we got to keep moving."
And he really does keep moving.
"When you keep moving, you feel better," he says.
There is one piece of information we didn't get.
Jere Hough says,"We're not going to find out how old you are, are we?"
Andy Bryant just laughs.
In the foyer, Jere Hough is standing by a display of several photographs. "This long row of pictures are employees who are still working, but have been here at least fifteen years. But the champ, at forty-six years is Mr. Andy. Where were you in 1961? On County Road 5 at Morrison's in Mobile, I'm Jere Hough, News 5."
Mr. Andy is widowed. He has a daughter and two grandchildren in Texas. And he has no plans to fully retire from Morrison's.
