Investigators say Aaron Porter and Desmond Brooks failed to report confiscated cash and drugs.
They resigned from the police department today rather than undergo an internal affairs investigation.
That hearing was supposed to determine if the officers violated rules, regulations, and procedures.
Police Chief Phillip Garret accepted their resignations, but says he wanted to hear what the officers had to say.
"I certainly would've liked to have heard their side of the story and maybe better understand how this happened...but it didn't happen," said Mobile Police Chief Phillip Garrett.
Even though Porter and Brooks have resigned, they are still under investigation and face felony criminal charges.
If convicted, they face up to 20 years behind bars.

Man Shot on Faure Drive

OMG! Is this Aaron Porter related to Doug Porter who is in the Stanislaus County (CA) jail awaiting trial on murder and embezzelment (?) charges?
Guess the apple don’t fall far from the tree, eh?
Never thought much of that bunch, anyway.
