Thursday, News Five found some staff members packing boxes and crews loading them up into trucks.
Last november, the board voted unanimously to buy the old Konica Minolta /QMS building in West Mobile.
But according to an Alabama law, the superintendent and his staff are to maintain an office within the county seat.
That means Dr. Harold Dodge's office should be at Government Plaza.
Dr. Dodge says that's not necessarily the case.
"We knew all along that the county is supposed to provide services for the superintendent. I didn't want to ever be separated from the staff anyway. Why would I want to be at Government Plaza and have the entire system here so it was inconvenient," said Mobile County Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Harold Dodge.
Dodge says the move to the new building in West Mobile should be complete by the beginning of May.
