That includes many young people in the Mobile area.
But why are they getting involved in politics?
And what issues concern them?
The University of South Alabama Chapter of Students for Barack Obama met Monday night.
Organizers say turnout was lower for Monday's meeting than it was before the Alabama Primary, but that young people are growing more interested in politics.
Chapter member E. Karlos Roberts of Mobile says, "Now its a thing where once you leave college, you want to know where you're going to be at, you want to know, is there a good job?"
People News Five talked to at the meeting agree.
Brittany Walker of Mobile says, "There used to be a time when we weren't that concerned, but actually when you get older, you see what's going on, you want to get involved to make things better."
Dion Campbell of Mobile says, "When I think about it as I've gotten older, I'm realizing that I'm not 18 anymore and I'm realizing that it costs money to live."
The Democratic National Convention will be the first convention held.
It takes place August 25th in Denver.
The Republican National Convention begins September 1st in Minneapolis.
