Dancers perform a scene from “Crucified.” The inventive play uses interpretive dance, modern music and high end technology to present the Easter story in a non-traditional way.

“If we can bring to life the text of the scripture along with the subtext, the meaning behind it,” says producer Gene Brack. “That brings revelation and understanding to people maybe they wouldn't see in a typical passion play.”

The play tells the story of Jesus’ death and resurrection through a series of flashbacks. The show uses a series of screens and pre-shot video to tell an old story differently.

“I re-read everything that Jesus wrote, the gospels, I also re-read everything Paul and Peter wrote and began to wash my brain with everything they had said,” says Brack.

This year the church is going all out for their Easter production. Wires go from the back of the church to this production trailer they're renting just for this event and this year it takes people and machines to get the show together.

“The technical aspect's so much a part of our lives today that if you don't have an opportunity to use it, I think you miss the boat,” says technical director Steve Braswell.

Organizers say they've been raising money for the last six months to help pay for the show. About 80 people are involved in the production. The production trailer helps them fire the right music, video and lighting effect at the right time.

Crucified opens Good Friday night at seven. There are Saturday and Sunday night shows at seven too. There’s also an Easter Sunday Matinee at 10:30. Admission at Life Church on Zeigler Boulevard is free. For more information on "Crucified", click here.
