The National Weather Service has reclassified the March 1st tornado that struck Millers Ferry in Wilcox County. The storm killed one person and injured two. The NWS now says the highest wind speed of the tornado was estimated at 185 mph. The tornado has been upgraded to an EF-4 on the new enhanced Fujita scale.  The storm's track was 15.6 miles long and 500 yards wide at it's widest width. The NWS says 40 homes were destroyed or damaged on Sand Island, with some of the debris scattered two miles downstream on the nearby river.  The NWS says because most of the damaged homes were seasonal or vacation spots, the loss of life may have been much greater had the tornado struck on a weekend.
