To get a pretty table, it takes hours of work behind a welder or plasma torch. For shop owner Joe Strange, he gets a reward from his art."Is creating pretty things,” says Strange. “It' probably sounds funny for a welder to say that, but I'm proud of the stuff we do.” He runs the Drapery Makery and Canvas Workshop in Fairhope. This weekend he’s playing host to a regional meeting of the National Ornamental and Miscellaneous Metal Association. Thirty metal workers from a variety of trades will be on hand Saturday morning showing off their stuff.
“We're particularly proud of it because it's usually in a bigger shop and we're kinda a small shop here in Fairhope and we're glad and proud to be the host for it,” says Joe. The workshop runs from 9:30 Saturday morning until noon.
