18-year-old Lauren Burk was shot and killed Tuesday night on North College Street in Auburn. Her burning car was found about a half hour later on campus.
Burk's family has set up an account with Wachovia Bank in her memory. "The more money we can get the better chance we have to get this killer of the streets," said Jaklyn Burk, Lauren's sister.
On Thursday, Governor Bob Riley announced a $10,000 reward. The Lauren Burk Memorial Fund will be added to that amount. If a tipster does not help police catch the killer, than any money donated will be given to the Invisible Children's Fund, one of Burk's favorite charities.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call Detective James Perry at 334.501.3140.
