The tour began with a stop in Selma, Alabama where McCain talked about civil rights. McCain wrapped up day one with a town hall meeting at Alabama Southern Community College in Thomasville.
Sen. McCain shared his ideas for improving public education, then took questions from the packed audience on agriculture, the economy and the war in Iraq. One of the largest applauds of the event came when McCain talked about the need for independence from foreign oil.
McCain will continue his tour Tuesday in Youngstown, Ohio.
