Baldwin County Sheriff's investigators say an unassuming, isolated home in rural Baldwin County was the base of a major drug operation. Wayne Sirmon was arrested on felony drug trafficking charges Monday morning after narcotics officers found nearly 100 marijuana plants growing inside his residence on Wallace Road in the Gateswood community."It's called an indoor marijuana grow," says Sheriff Huey "Hoss" Mack. "The suspect was using artificial light and flower pots to grow the marijuana."
Investigators also found a rifle and two handguns inside the residence.
"The fact that loaded weapons were found inside indicates this was a transaction point. The deals took place here and the weapons are often used for intimidation or for protection."
Sirmon was also charged with domestic violence, receiving stolen property and possession of drug paraphernalia. Sirmon is being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center.
