A Defuniak Springs resident died Tuesday morning after a load of scrap metal fell off a truck and landed on top of him. 51 year old Ricky Adkins died at the scene, according to Pensacola Police. The accident happened at the Auto Shed. A witness told investigators Adkins had backed a truck carrying a load of scrap metal into an area to be dumped and pulled on a chain that was holding the load in place. He said the load shifted, fell off of the truck and on top of Adkins. A crane was used to lift the metal off the victim. The incident is under investigation but police do not expect there will be any charges.
