Nearly 10,000 people were standing in line when the Boise Towne Square Mall in Boise, Idaho opened at 1:00 a.m. They were trying to be one of the first 500 people to receive a gift bag.But most of the gift bag winners say it was not worth it after seeing what happened when mall security opened the front doors. Many shoppers, including a pregnant woman, got trampled trying to squeeze through.
Mall managers say it's one of the largest crowds they've ever seen. If the mall does this event again, managers say they will do it differently. "We probably wouldn't do the 500 hundred shopping bags," Darcy Shippy with General Growth Properties said. "We just didn't anticipate the crowd being quiet so pushy. Literally I was out there letting in the first 500 hundred people in and literally almost got pushed over by people."
