allow people with specialized training to carry concealed weapons
on college campuses.
A measure approved by the state House would authorize campus
guns for people who've had special firearms training, including
members of the military and honorably discharged veterans.
Supporters argue the measure would make campuses safer by putting
guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens.
But given recent campus shootings around the nation, opponents
have wasted no time registering objections. State Representative
Ray McCarter calls it "the craziest thing" he's ever seen, noting
the campus-guns idea is also opposed by college administrators.
The measure now goes to the Oklahoma Senate.
