A deputy pulled over a car just after midnight on Airport Boulevard and Bit-n-Spur Road. But as the deputy approached the vehicle, the driver and a passenger got out an ran. But the driver, Carlen Miller, did not get far. A member of the Sheriff's K-9 Unit caught up with him after a short chase.
After his capture, deputies searched Miller's car and found a stolen pistol and shotgun. Miller was charged with Receiving Stolen Property, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Attempting to Elude and Driving with a Suspended License.
Miller was also wanted on six charges, including Assault, Carrying a Pistol without a Permit, Domestic Violence, Resisting Arrest, Failure to Obey a Police Officer and Giving a False Name to an Officer.
Deputies are still trying to identify the passenger. They believe Miller and the passenger were behind several recent robberies and a shooting in Mobile.
