Africa Locke was on the Habitat for Humanity list for two years. She and her kids had serious roof damage after hurricane Katrina.
They haven't had a place to call home since the storm.
Former president Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn spent the day in Mobile and helped Africa with her house in the Hillsdale Community.
The Carters put up sheeting on the front of Locke's future home.
Africa says she this is an exciting experience "I got to nail a little with Mrs. Carter. Mr. Carter, he has been busy. He came in and just wanted to work so I haven't had a chance to speak with him yet."
The Carters are part of a massive Habitat for Humanity project on the Gulf Coast. The plan is to build 250 homes for hurricane victims from here all the way to Texas.
Alexis Pugh, Jessica Porter and Jermarko Covington from Hillsdale Middle School got to meet the Carter's as well. Click on the video to see that story!
