- Deputies arrested Troy Major at the Greyhound Bus Station, about 12 miles from the jail, at 3:45 pm.
- He was preparing to get on a bus to Jacksonville, Florida.
- Major will be facing an additional charge of escape.
2:09 p.m.
Deputies are looking for an inmate who stole an Escambia County Sheriff's Office van and escaped from the jail at 12:30 p.m.
According to the Sheriff's Office, Troy Major is a trustee at the jail and had access to keys for a white Dodge Sheriff's van.
Major is described as a 23-year-old black male, 5'11", 165 pounds. He was wearing a black and white striped prison uniform when he made his escape.
Major has two distinct tattoos on his arms. On his right arm, Major has a tattoo of a tiger. On his left arm is a tattoo of a dragon with the word "memory" underneath it.
Major is charged with grand theft and forgery. He was scheduled to go to trial June 16th.
Anyone who spots Major and/or the van is asked to call the Escambia County Sheriff's Office at 850.426.9620.
Major is the second inmate to escape from an Escambia County facility over a 14 hour span.
Timothy Smith escaped from the Escambia County Road Camp in Cantonment last night during a smoke break. He was captured just before 2:00 p.m. today.
