WASHINGTON (AP) - The seven hurricanes that hit Florida over
2004 and 2005 are now costing the state more than 480 million
dollars.
That's because the hurricane recovery created jobs, which
skewered a formula the federal government uses to calculate the
state's share of Medicaid costs.
A Florida Medicaid official explained this situation to
legislators today. Dyke Snipes says the state can argue its case to
the federal government and push for a fix.
