It took crews more 5 hours to guide the passengers and 11 of the crew members off the Mona Lisa on to two waiting naval ships.
They were taken to the nearby city of Ventspils, Latvia to continue their trip to the capital of Riga.
Latvian Coast Guard and Navy Officials had to lead the passengers and crew down stepladders.
A coast guard spokeswoman says 322 remaining crew members will stay on the ship per the captain's orders.
The captain of the ship, a Greeek national, had made attempts to free the ship from a sand bank, but ultimately made the decision to evacuate the passengers. Mona Lisa has been in service for 42 years. No word yet on how crews plan to remove the 30,000-ton ship from the sand bar.
