High gas prices have put on a strain on people's wallets. They're spending less to make ends meet so they can keep fuel in their vehicles. But small town businesses may actually benefit from the high gas prices, because customers are keeping their money close to home.In Stockton, business has been booming at the locally owned Stagecoach Cafe.
The owner told News Five that her customers are saving on gas by not driving to major cities like Mobile and Bay Minette to get a good meal.
When gas prices began to rise, Joyce Overstreet said her business began to slack off, but things have gotten better.
"It's always a concern when the economy is bouncing around the way it is --people spending money because eating out is one of the things they don't have to do. You have to go to a grocery store, you have to buy staples, but you don't have to eat out," said Stagecoach Café Owner Joyce Overstreet.
Many want to see gas prices go down, but the small town businesses are enjoying the profits while they last.
