"People feel like with the cost of gas going up, it's probably cheaper for them to leave their car and hop on a bus," says BRATS director Taylor Rider.
Gas prices are hovering around $2.50 a gallon and some experts say it's go up to about three bucks a gallon this summer.
"We're increasing our fleet and adding two new routes to downtown Mobile and to Pensacola," says Rider. "I just think that people are tired of high gas prices, get stuck in traffic and dealing with a hassling commute."
BRATS currently has about 50 buses in their fleet. Fares cost one dollar with each city jurisdiction and five bucks for a round-trip rural ticket. For more information, call BRATS at 972-6817.
