Skyrocketing gas prices have some of you finding other ways to get around town.

We did some checking and found out sales on bicycles, scooters, and motorcycles are up at some Mobile businesses. We also checked with The Wave Transit System and discovered the pain at the pump is driving more people to city buses.

We talked with one man who decided to sell his car and commute to work by bicycle.

"The savings have been considerable," said bicycle commuter, Christopher Raczkowski. "I put about 350 miles a month right now on my bike which would've all of gone to gas money and you know I get to feel good about lowering my environmental impact at a time when I think we all need to be concerned about that."

Raczkowski says he commutes 8 miles to work 6 days a week. But, he says he often takes the city bus home. And, in case you're wondering, he says there is a place to put his bike on the bus.

Good for him!!!!

I ain’t doin’ that though!  Just taking a pleasure ride around the block can be dangerous with all the teen drivers on the road.

I’m glad to see more people out biking.Me and the wife have been doing more and more biking for about 6 Months. We make the rounds of the community here to keep an eye on things. I pull a bike trailer behind mine to carry things in such as a first aid bag and a CERT bag,and some times some of the neighborhood’s small kids which they love, since I’m doing all the peddling. We always feel better after a round and get to know our neighbors better. If we had side walks or bike paths along highway 43 here,we could just about do everything here in Saraland without ever burning a gallon of gas.Wouldn’t that be nice to see,50% reduction in vehicles and pollution and for most people getting healthier at the same time.
