She wept and pleaded for the judge not to send her to jail, and the judge did grant some leniency. 9 of then 10 years of Philips' sentence were suspended. That means she'll only serve a one-year sentence. As part of the ruling, Philips will divide her sentence between the Baldwin County jail and a drug treatment facility.

They state that the McGill girl has a history of arrests, and that Philips doesn’t have a history of arrests. That means nothing to me. Philips just hasn’t been caught for the past 15 years, and the McGill girl has. What does that matter? A law breaker has to pay, no matter what. I knew someone who would drink and drive every day for over 10 years, and was arrested for DUI at a simple roadblock. I’ve known another person who would drink a 12 pack every day and drive for over 18 years, and has never been caught. Justice system? Where’s the justice? I’m comforted by the fact that God will hand down his justice - His will be done.
