BEL AIR, Calif. (AP) - Former first lady Nancy Reagan is backingJohn McCain.
The Arizona senator picked up her endorsement today at her
California home.
The GOP nominee-in-waiting, in the midst of a West Coast
fundraising swing, hopes Reagan's blessing will draw support from
wavering Republicans.
In a five-minute appearance with the former first lady in the
driveway of her gated home, McCain said he was very pleased and
honored. Reagan noted that she and her late husband "always waited
until everything was decided" before making endorsements.
In a statement issued earlier in the day, she called McCain a
good friend and that his experience has prepared him well to be the
next president.
