A grisly discovery in Foley has police looking for answers in what they are calling a suspicious death. The body of a woman was discovered Monday night inside a home just blocks from police headquarters.
Hidden behind a wall of trees and heavy shrubs, the house where Foley police found a woman's body. The home on West Section Avenue belongs to Judy Barney. She had lived with her elderly mother until last year when her mother passed away. Now police believe Barney, may be dead too.
Police were first alerted about a possible problem here by the lawn guy who said when he knocks on the door she usually answers but she hadn't in a while then they noticed the mailbox was full of mail.
"Not too surprised," says Michael Niehuss. He along with other neighbors say Barney kept to herself, "Saw her cats more than we saw her."
But he says there was a lot of suspicious activity at the house. "Rumors of possible drugs, you know the UPS truck would stop by there all the time. Always had deliveries."
Police Chief David Wilson says their preliminary investigation points to the home being a drug house. "We have evidence of drug activity at that house and a lot of traffic to and from that house which matches drug use at that house."
For now the questions are: Whose body was found here, and how did she die? Autopsy results could hold the answers.
