Health officials say this year's flu season seems
to be the worst in four years.
That's partly because the flu vaccine didn't work well against
the viruses that made most people sick. The Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention calls this season the worst since 2003-2004,
based on a tally of adult deaths from flu and pneumonia.
Officials say the 2007-2008 season started slowly, peaked in
mid-February and seems to be winding down, though some cases are
still being reported.
A CDC director admits that some people may lose faith in the flu
vaccine and skip it next year. But he says that, even this year,
the shot still offered 44-percent protection overall.
