at one time our county was based on the working men and women, not any more its all about who has the most money.when a recreational fishermen can walk into a store and comment on how they are going to have the gulf to there selfs it shames me.they were talking about how they have our state legislatures in ther pockets, because commerical shrimpers, gill netters, oystermen, and yes even our crabbers don’t have enough money and they out number them, because they come from all over ,yes even up north, and from other states.i was thinking this can’t be true then i saw the news, have we become so big that putting a man out of a job ,so we can have fun is worth it i think not, so i ask those of you who have done this what if it were your job remember jesus said come and follow me i will make you fishers of men
i also wanted to say alabama has one of the largest artificial-reef programs there is .when they make these reef does anyone know what they put out there, i do washing machines, dryers, vending machines, barges, tires tide togather, chicken cages, old crab traps, old boats, ships, buses, and any thing else that will go out there, now i ask you who is killing our waters does thes things not have oil, rust ,lead and other things in them, i say yes.,there are good gill netter out there so why would you want to take away there way of life that would be like saying you can only have one rod-n-reel,one small motor, and a little boat.in the april magazine of great days outdoors,it states that its not all about snapper, have you seen the pictures in there of the fish they catch, amberjack, big yellow fin tuna, cobia, grouper, wahoo, big bull reds and other fish, also states alabama has more fish then ever, for bait they use herring, vermilion sapper, and others.i think the gulf is for everybody not just a few.
