James Eaton, 67, was gunned down as he was closing the Washington Avenue convenience store he and his wife had shared for 25 years.
His wife, who was there when it happened, says the gunmen wore masks and sounded like teenagers. Family members say the killers got away with less than $50.
"I'll be glad when they find when they find him. I want them to find him," said Daniel Austin, a close family friend who lives across the street from the Eaton's store. "Whoever did it, I hope they get what they're supposed to get," said Austin, 83.
Thursday, Governor Bob Riley announced a $5000 reward for anyone with information leading the arrest and conviction of Eaton's killers. His family hopes that's enough to bring someone forward. "If you can imagine, every morning she wakes up without a husband," said Chris Williams, talking about his mother-in-law, who he says is still struggling with her husband's death. James and Mary Eaton were married for 47 years before he was murdered.
