The Gaudet family was chosen to be on Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
Last week, the national tv show came and and told the family that it was going to build them a brand new home.
For the past week, volunteers have been working around the clock to make good on their promise.
Friday the Gaudet's got a chance to see their dream house.
Family members told News Five the gift was well deserved.
"It's overwhelming. I don't know. It's hard to put into words because they lived in a little, thousand square foot house for about 25 years. Ten people and one bathroom and this is a miracle. That's what it is. It's unbelievable," said Lydia Gaudet's father Bill Smith.
The Gaudet's now have a 3,400 square foot home with five bedrooms and three bathrooms.
It took volunteers four days to build the house, which usually would take three months.

I think that wkrg may ned to check some facts, like the time the family has lived there, and the size of the new home!

Also I had great run ins with the production team, they even went and got my child some snacks. And I think we need to be thanking them for coming not the other way around. In fact why do we even need thanks from anyone. If you truly want to help someone you and not give a second thought to please and thank you. Rememeber these people are not from the south.

My friend and I worked for 5 days on this house.  I have to say our experience was great.  I agree with ljcr7757 to some point but we actually did get a chance to talk to a lot of the producers and crews and they were very appreciative.  There were times where everyone was a little touchy but when you have that short of a period of time to get a house built from ground up and decorated I can understand why they had to be rude sometimes. They get so many people who come through to volunteer just to be seen or to see so they do have a hard job.  Ed, Johnny, and DiDi were extremely nice and we were extremely lucky to be able to work with them.  I have a whole new respect for the 3 of them because there wasn’t a day that went by that the 3 of them were not out there working their butts off.  I am not sure what Michael’s projects were but I am sure from the outcome of the interior that he was working his off too getting decorations together and shopping.  They are all wonderful people.

Who will pay the utilities on that big house? and the insurance? It sure is a nice home for the family and such a deserving family.

I have to say that I worked in the house for the past couple of days, carrying wood, painting walls, woodwork and even ceilings. The volunteers all the way from Heritage Homes, to the cleaning crew were amazing. The cast and crew of Extreme Home Makeover (which has always been one of my favorite shows) were just plan rude. John and Ed were the exception, they were very nice. But the rest, I never heard a please, thank you or even an excuse me. I think the house turned out beautiful and for all of those who worked 10-12 and even 18 hour days we can be proud of what we did for this family. Job well done.
