Police Department Spokeswoman Nancy Johnson says Twenty-one year old Detrice Haggins Jr. was arrested Tuesday night and charged with the murder of Seventy-seven year old Sally Culpepper. Detectives believe Haggins went to Culpepper's house the day of the murder looking for money. Police say he shot her and left her for dead, taking possessions from the home, some of which have been recovered by investigators.
The homicide took place the afternoon of Saturday, March 29th, at Culpepper's home located at 550 Elmira Street. Mobile Police say Haggins is the half-brother of Culpepper's grandson.
