torturing cocaine traffickers in the Northeast.
An indictment unsealed in federal court in Brooklyn charges that
the gang operated by pretending to be police officers. They
allegedly forced drug traffickers to hand over multimillion-dollar
stashes by employing torture and holding the traffickers' families
hostage for days on end.
Authorities say since the spring of 2003, the gang injured about
100 people while committing 100 holdups targeting large-scale
traffickers in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, North
Carolina and Florida.
The take: 4 million dollars in cash and more than 1,600 pounds
of cocaine worth 20 million dollars, which authorities say the men
sold on the streets of New York.
The defendants, all from the Dominican Republic, pleaded not
guilty to charges of robbery conspiracy, drug dealing and other
crimes.
Mobile Police Name “Officer Of The Year”

Sounds to me like this gang was much more effective than the cops were against the dealers. They shoudl be given medals!
