Linda Chapman says her 10-year-old son Jordan, is a stellar student, he's even made honor roll before. But lately, she says the 4th grader hasn't been himself. "Once he started from day one it was like a hate the 4th grade, I don't like the 4th grade," Said Chapman. The 4th grader says bullies are to blame. "Sometimes they cag me up which is when they trip you up and you have to get your balance as quick as you can,"said the 10-year-old. His mother Linda says it's affected his grades. "That's not fair for him education wise because it's like he's being cheated out of his education because it's bothering his concentration," Said Chapman.
But she says she was shocked when another parent told her Jordan had threatened to hurt himself. "Right now you can't say what a child would do, they could say it and don't mean it and they could say it and really mean it,"Said Chapman. Linda says she's spoken with Jordan's teacher and says the school is keeping an eye on the situation. According to Psychologist Michael Rosenbaum she is doing the right thing."Bullying is tormenting a child that is not a psychologically safe environment and could progress to the point in which it's not a physically safe environment," Said Dr. Rosenbaum. Dr. Rosenbaum says a child who is bullied continuously is at a high risk for developing anxiety or depression. He says if you feel your child may be getting bullied...encourage them to talk about it. He says if the situation doesn't improve, you should contact a mental health professional.

And Jordan, you have an awesome smile!~

I hope both the Chapman’s and sweetnsours situations work out. I can remember being picked on in elementary school-30 years later- and how bad it hurt then, and sometimes even now. I hope the parents of the bullies will be talked to by the principal. They need help too. Bullies now, gangbangers or murderers later. Good luck to both of you and your kids!

No child should have to go through that! Bullying is an issue that carries with a child thoughout adulthood.  Good luck MaMa I hope everything will work itself out.

Linda, you have no idea what I life saver you are.  My son is also in fourth grade.  He came home today saying I cannot go back to school I just want this to stop.  I asked him “what is going on” he stated in PE the bigger kids, because my son is a little small for his age, are picking on me shoving me and threatening me.  I told him when where and who give me some names.  He said I can’t tell you it will just get worse.  He said if I have to go back to that school I will hurt myself.  Well, I talked to him got a few names and places and I am going to handle this tomorrow.  That is not okay.......  His principal is very strict.  I explained to him don’t let them win they are trying to take away your education.  I am even considering home schooling him next year.  I love you girl, with a little awareness and a lot of support this stuff will stop.  I thought I was the only one and my son had the end of the school year blues.  THANKS.
