Joseph Toomey, the Satsuma High School Football player was paralyzed in a car crash back in November, marks a major milestone in his recovery.
Today, doctors at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta removed the trach they inserted on December 7th to help Toomey breathe easier.
Toomey's family says it will take a couple of days for the hole in his neck to close up. His voice will be a little weak until that happens. But they are thankful the trach is now gone.
If you'd like to keep up with Toomey's progress on a daily basis, log onto a website set up by his parents.
