fans think pitching great Roger Clemens lied when he told Congress
he has never used steroids. But most also say the seven-time Cy
Young award winner should still be enshrined in the sport's Hall of
Fame.
The poll also shows that fans seem more forgiving about whether
to punish past steroid users than they did before the Mitchell
Report on the use of performance enhancing drugs in Major League
Baseball was unveiled in December.
Fifty-seven percent of respondents say they think Clemens was
lying.
However, 62 percent say they think Clemens should be elected to
baseball's Hall of Fame. That's about the same number who feel that
sluggers Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa, who were discredited in an
earlier steroid scandal, should also be admitted.
