Mobile Police are investigating the cause of a wreck that killed one person Sunday afternoon.
It happened around 3:00pm in the Eastbound lands of I-10 between the Michigan Avenue and Broad Street exits.
Police say a Ford Explorer and a Ford Focus collided while one of the vehicles was attempting to change lanes.
The Explorer flipped several times, ejecting and killing the driver.
Police say 6 passengers were injured and taken to USA Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
According to officers, the driver of the Focus was not hurt.
Stacy Grandberg came up on the accident scene shortly after it happened and jumped out to help. "We could see people running in a panic, I got out because I have a nursing history.Obviously there's fatalities on the road that were out of the vehicle. There were young children crying and screaming and one young little boy laying right here that's very hurt very hurt. Most of them I think are O.K."
The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
The names of those involved have not been released.

you are all right but that’s not going to help with traffic accidents

I think that is two very good rules of the road to follow, common courtesy and observe the speed limits .We could avoid a lot of the road rage and save a lot of barrels of oil.

Well if everyone would follow the speed limit then there would not be any problems or moving over or not.  Also it would help everyone’s MPG

Who is right ,who is wrong! just think of it as a common courtesy if the man passing in the left lane ,saw the man behind him ,was to merge back into the right lane so that he could get by instead of having the attitude of “look at this guy who does he think he is” also the state trooper with some years on the force wanted to help protect the drivers that is not the way he would look at it.Thats not the point,it’s all just a matter of helping each other out (right or wrong)no matter who’s right or wrong it is not worth anyone loosing there life.

This gets complicated real quick, even when you have signs saying ,"slower traffic keep to right lane except to pass”.Who would be correct i f you had a vehicle going the maximum speed in the left lane and passing the vehicles in the right lane and another vehicle wanted to go faster than the maximum speed limit in the left lane?I heard a good while back there was no legal requirement that you had to pull over into the right lane, this was from a state trooper with some years on the force,i do not know if this is true or not.SEAT BELTS,SEAT BELTS,SEAT BELTS!Condolences to families involved.

I was just wondering if anyone looked into the possibility that one of these drivers where in the left lane ,holding up the man that finally got angry ,and tried to squeze in ,and clipped the other man causing the two vehicles to loose control.
this is a problem that is happening a lot latley, if the state could do something about people who will not move over and let the speeder by ,just to show him! this might keep traffic fatalities down and our highways a lot safer.not that this paticular wreck was cause by this.
