Police say a man who drowned off Dauphin Island this past weekend has been identified as 40-year- old Gary Bormett of Carmel, Indiana.
Authorities say his body was found just before noon on Sunday.
Coast guard officials tell News Five Bormett was swimming about 100 feet away from the Dauphin Island pier when he got into trouble.
Paramedics tried to revive him when he was brought back to shore but were unsuccessful.
Authorities say Bormett was on vacation with his family.
