A group of kind hearted volunteers is trying to spread some cheer to a Bayou La Batre woman who lost her four children after police say their father threw them from the Dauphin Island Bridge in January.
The van allegedly used in that crime has been turned back over to the mother Kieu Phan.
It was in need of a lot of repairs so several companies and volunteers throughout the area pitched in to fix it up.
Mark Hendry with Southern Automotive in Tillmans Corner said when Phan gets the van it's going to have a slightly different look because it has new tires and the scratches on the passenger side will be gone.
He told News Five the volunteers just wanted to erase any constant reminders of what happened to the four small children.
"It makes me feel real good to know that that I'm in a position where I can help in this matter, not just professionally, but financially. We don't want anything for it. I feel that's why this vehicle came to me," said Southern Automotive owner Mark Hendry.
The repairs to the minivan will cost almost $4,000 and donations are still pouring in.
Kieu Phan will be presented the van on Saturday.

I feel this jester is very kind but it will also be a constant reminder to the mother, that this was the van that carried her children to thier death. Why not sell the auto and buy another in it’s place. As a mother I know I couldn’t even get in it.
