consumers jammed online shopping sites on Monday, the official
start of the holiday season for e-tailers.
ComScore reports consumers spent 733 million dollars online, a
21 percent gain over the same day a year ago.
While this year's Cyber Monday figure was good, traditionally
it's not the busiest day. For instance, the busiest online shopping
day last year was Wednesday, December 13th, when 667 million
dollars in sales were generated.
But this year's online news is not all rosy.
ComScore reports the number of online buyers rose 38 percent
from a year ago, but the average dollar amount spent per buyer is
down 12 percent.
