BAY MINETTE (AP) - A Democratic candidate trying to unseat
U.S. Rep. Jo Bonner was arrested last night in Baldwin County.
Authorities said 36-year-old Benjamin Reid Lodmell allegedly agreed
to pay an undercover female police officer for sex.
He was arrested on the Eastern Shore and was booked into the
Baldwin County Corrections Center in Bay Minette a little before 8
p.m. yesterday. Jail records show he was released about an hour later after posting $5,000 bail.
Lodmell, who faces a misdemeanor charge of soliciting a prostitute, declined to comment on his arrest but said he plans to
continue his campaign.
