The Environmental Protection Agency says chromium has leaked on the ground around the Old American Wheel and Bumper Factory on Navco Road.
The chemical was used on car wheels and bumpers.
An EPA representative spoke to the River Park Community Action Group.
The old bumper factory has been closed for many years, but chromium filled barrels and other hazardous stuff was left behind.
The EPA says clean up will start within the next month.
fFllow up soil samples will also be taken.
The community action group is pleased with the quick action taken on this site.
