VIDALIA, La. (AP) - A Louisiana high school student is accused
of poisoning his teacher.
Authorities in Vidalia (vy-DAYL'-yuh) say the teacher was
hospitalized with severe intestinal distress after the 16-year-old
spiked her soft drink with eye drops. She was treated and released.
Investigators think the boy put about three-quarters of a bottle
of eye drops into the teacher's drink May 5th.
The school superintendent says the student had made poisoning
threats before the incident. The official says the teen was seeking
revenge for another student who had been suspended by the teacher.
The student has denied spiking the drink.
The main ingredient in eyedrops can be highly toxic if ingested.
