The accident at Babcock and Commonwealth avenues in Boston, occurred about 7:20 a.m. Thursday.
The truck hit some cars before igniting, along with one car. Another vehicle ended up inside a building.
Three people, including the truck driver, were taken to the hospital with what police believe are minor injuries.
Officials said the truck was carrying highly flammable chemicals that may have been leaking, so nearby buildings were evacuated as a precaution.
There was no immediate word on what caused the crash.
