Peggy Sue.
The namesake of Holly's 1950s hit song is planning to release a
book about her friendship with the rocker titled, "Whatever
Happened to Peggy Sue?" Maria Holly claims Peggy Sue Gerron's book
is unauthorized and would harm her late husband's name and her own
reputation.
Gerron says the book is based on about 150 diary entries she
wrote during the time she knew the singer.
Maria Holly says the stories are made up, adding that Buddy
Holly "never considered Peggy Sue a friend." She has sent a
cease-and-desist order to the publisher of the book, which is due
in stores later this month.
Holly was just 22 when he was killed in a plane crash February
3rd, 1959.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the release of "Peggy
Sue."
