they've been big beneficiaries of Brett Favre's football career.
During his time with the Green Bay Packers, he and his wife
Deanna have been active in many causes that aid disadvantaged
children, fight cancer or take on other challenges.
Through his involvement in the Make-a-Wish Foundation, Brett
Favre has granted wishes to 63 children during his career.
His celebrity softball game each spring raises money for the
Brett Favre Fourward Foundation, which aids needy children in
Wisconsin and Favre's home state of Mississippi. It's given out
more than $2 million since 1996.
The Give A Kid A Book program is among those helped with the
money. Organizers say it's gotten a big boost from having Deanna
Favre take an active role as honorary chair.
Leaders of various charities say they hope the Favres will stay
involved now that Brett is retiring, but they're not sure if that
will happen.
